Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy is a holistic approach to nutritional counseling that is rooted in the basis of a whole foods, nutrient dense diet that provides the appropriate ingredients for the body to heal itself and function optimally. Nutritional Therapy looks at digestion, blood sugar, mineral balance, fatty acid balance and hydration as foundations for optimal health. By addressing the systems rather than just the symptoms, nutritional therapy can effectively treat the underlying causes of disease, providing lasting results. It is a system of healing and prevention utilizing the bio-individual needs of each individual as a guide map to wellness.

Some of the tools that are may be used in the Nutritional Therapy are:

-Functional stool and saliva testing (gastrointestinal, adrenal, hormones)

-Food sensitivity testing, analysis and healing protocols

-Functional nutrition lab testing and evaluation

-Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

-Food Journals

-Functional whole food and dietary support

-Nutritional supplements & herbal support

-Comprehensive health history questionnaire

Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions will I need?

This varies with each individual.  I typically recommend to initially give yourself a few months to get things started.  This will give us some time to work therapeutically with a particular complaint.  If you are interested in prevention or just to refine your diet and nutritional needs, then a couple of appointments may be sufficient.  Everyone's journey with Nutritional Therapy will be unique and we can discuss this more during your appointment.

Do I have to take supplements?

You do not have to take supplements, although it is often recommended in order to achieve a therapeutic effect for a period of time.  It depends on what your main complaints are and how fast you would like to address them.  Specific whole food based supplements can give you a good boost towards health.  If you do not want to take any supplements, there are many things we can do with diet and food alone, so I will work with you where you are at.

What can Nutritional Therapy help with?

Nutritional Therapy can assist you with a variety of conditions.  Here are a few:  poor digestion, heart burn/GERD, IBS, food allergies, seasonal allergies, fatigue, low blood sugar, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency, pain management, inflammation, acne, rashes, depression, fertility, immunity, sugar cravings, weight management, menopause, chronic stress, sleep disorders, detoxification, autoimmune conditions, cardiovascular health, and many more.  Call today if you would like to see if your complaint can be addressed.

How long before I start feeling better?

Most people feel better immediately after initial diet changes or nutrient introduction.  Sometimes you will experience mild to moderate discomfort as the healing process begins and a new protocol is started.  This often is normal, and I will be available to offer support and guidance along the way.
